Streeterville in Downtown Chicago

Yesterday we showed a condominium in downtown Chicago.

Specifically in the Streeterville neighborhood.

The area was named after George Wellington Streeter. The story is that he crashed his boat into a sand bar, and instead of moving it, he decided to stay put and claim the sand bar and the land around it as his "United States District of Lake Michigan".

He claimed about 186 acres of land from Lake Michigan on the east to Michigan Ave. on the west to the Chicago River on the south and Oak Street on the north.  Today it is some of the most valuable property in the city.

However, after numerous scuffles and long legal processes, Streeter was unable to maintain "his" land.

If you have any questions about property in the Streeterville neighborhood or any other areas in Chicago, give us a call.

We're here to help.
